The alcohol shipping laws are constantly changing. With that in mind, we've contracted with a shipping solutions company to manage the majority of our wine shipments outside of CA and other West Coast States. They still utilize the major carriers for the final leg of delivery (UPS, Fedex, LSO, etc.) and the cost to you is no different. The benefits of using this shipping company are many, but the main points are listed below:
1) Compliance - they have a dedicated department in charge of ensuring that we are shipping legally and collecting/paying taxes due on alcohol purchases in each State where taxes are required to be collected. Currently, these are the States to which we ship: AZ, CA, CO, CT, GA, HI, ID, IL, KS, KY, LA, MA, MD, ME, MO, ND, NE, NH, NM, NV, NY, OH, OK, OR, PA, SC, SD, TX, VA, WA, WV and WY. Most of these States require us to collect/pay sales tax but there are a few which do not. This list is constantly being updated, so please check to see if your State is listed before making purchases.
2) Temperature controlled - temperature controlled long haul freight trucks that deliver to regional warehouses across the country are utilized to ensure that your wine maintains a constant temperature from the time it is picked up from our warehouse in CA to its end destination. The only time the wines are NOT temperature controlled is during the final leg, which is typically 1-2 days. This allows us to ship during those fringe months when it is too hot or too cold to ship via normal Ground service.
3) Reach - Currently, we are able to ship to all but these 6 States; Utah, Mississippi, Alabama, Vermont, Michigan, and Delaware.
4) Please NOTE: Shipments going to West Coast locations DO NOT ship temperature controlled. The temperature controlled freight option is only available for shipments traveling East of Oklahoma. All shipments to the West of Oklahoma will ship via traditional methods.
